Another thing to consider when choosing an SSD for your PlayStation 4 Pro is its speed. The console supports PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe drives, so you should look for an SSD that has this specification.
Prepare Your Gear
1. Before starting the installation, make sure that you have all of the necessary gear. This includes an SSD, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a USB drive.
2. The first step is to remove the cover of the PlayStation 4. There are eight screws in total that will need to be removed. Three of these are located on the rear of the console, while the others are on the front and sides.
3. Once the screws have been removed, carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
4. Next, locate the hard drive cage and remove the four screws that hold it in place.

Before installing the SSD, you’ll need to format it. This will erase all of the data on the drive, so make sure to back up any files you want to keep. To format the drive, go to Settings > Devices > Storage and select your SSD. Then, tap Format as Extended Storage and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 2: Remove the old hard drive.
The next step is to remove the old hard drive from your PlayStation 4. To do this, flip your console over and remove the six screws that hold the cover in place. Once the screws are removed, lift up the cover and set it aside. You’ll then see two screws that hold the hard drive in place; remove these screws and pull out the hard drive.
